Despite what the commercials say, everything isn't happy during these holidays. Beneath our flashy neon exterior, there is a slaughter occurring. This slaughter has been going on for so many years, that for many, it is merely a fact of life. To them, it will never change. In fact, since it is so widely considered just “an issue”, the perpetrators of this slaughter are becoming increasingly bold. They have even gone so far as to mock the very birth of Jesus Christ.
This Christmas, Planned Parenthood is sending out cards to their donors that say “Choice on Earth.” This is a play on the words “Peace on Earth, and Goodwill towards men.” spoken by the angels at the time of Christ's birth. This signaled the birth of the Savior of the world. However, Planned Parenthood's cards speak only of death. That they would even think of comparing the birth of Christ to their work is appalling.
What choice are they speaking of in these Christmas cards, anyway? They are talking about the choice to have an abortion, the choice to kill your own child in the womb. When the angels spoke that night, it was of a Savior, Jesus, who would speak out against murder. Jesus would not say that we could kill our children when they were inconvenient.
In George Orwell's classic book, Animal Farm, a pig named Napoleon ran the farm. He was a crafty pig, who constantly changed the rules of the farm to suit himself. These changes became more and more blatant, finally culminating with the statement “All animals are created equal, but some are more equal than others.” By stating that, Napoleon put himself and his followers on a level above everyone else. Things would benefit them first, before all others. These words spoken by Napoleon are similar to statements made by Planned Parenthood. By saying that a woman's convenience comes before the life of a child, they're making the child “less equal.” They have put themselves on a level above their children. They have made themselves into the Napoleons of this day.
This Christmas, celebrate the real reason for the season, a season celebrating life and not death. Celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
