I sat down the other night to watch a made-for-TV movie about the Washington, D.C. sniper. I was interested in how they would show all of the events and emotions. I think I was so interested because I live in the area and experienced these tragedies first-hand.
I remember driving to the bank with my wife telling her not to worry; everything was happening in MD. About a half hour later as I was coming out of the party store, I saw her screaming. As I approached the car she told me someone was just shot across the street from where we were. I was panicked as I sped out of the parking lot and told her to cover the kids.
A few days later, I went into D.C. for a conference and I got a call on my cell phone that someone was killed at a gas station just down the road from our house.
I really began to watch the news 24/7 at that point. I think I was like everyone else in our area. I just wanted to know that it was safe for my kids to go outside and play. I wanted to get gas without ducking behind my car.
As I watched the news, I got more and more upset at what I saw. I would drive down the road and see police cars at every corner. I would see helicopters everywhere. I watched as the police shut down roads and searched everyone after a shooting.
They talked about over 1,000 federal agents and the President being briefed at daily news conferences several times a day to keep the public informed.
I watched Chief Moose crying as he talked about the sniper crossing the line when he shot a child. He was so shocked that someone could hurt a child.
I agreed with that, but I wanted to ask him a question. Why are you not putting this kind of effort into stopping the murder of innocent children in our country every day?
Here you have hundreds of law enforcement officers working around the clock because of 13 shootings and 4,400 innocent children are being killed every day and they are actually protecting those killers.
Imagine if our government actually decided to protect all American citizens equally and put a stop to the blood shed in the abortion clinics.
Imagine if all the churches that held prayer vigils and all the extra time people spent in prayer was also spent for those whose death is never shown on the news.
If we really believe that children in the womb are the same as anyone else, then we would be reacting with the same horror and urgency that we did to the sniper. Are you?
It is one year later, and the sniper is no longer killing, but 1.5 million more children have been killed by abortion. Where is the justice?
For Christ I stand,
