Kate Prain – Stand True Pro-life Missionary
Here in the Dayton, Ohio area, Wright State University is collaborating with notorious late-term abortionist, Martin Haskell, who works at the area’s only remaining surgical abortion clinic. If it were not for Wright State’s hospital transfer agreement, the abortion center would be shut down by the Ohio Department of Health.
Last week our friends at Created Equal let us know that they would be conducting a pro-life outreach on the campus of Wright State. They were also being joined by many local pro-lifers, some of whom had informed us of what was going on at Wright State, and we decided to join this collaborative outreach.
The day was a huge success as we were able to engage hundreds of students in conversations about abortion and inform them of Haskell’s agreement with the Wright State Physicians group. Many students were unaware of how the Wright State Physicians group was involved and we even saw a few hearts change about abortion.
For me there was something even more exciting that happened yesterday: the collaboration of all pro-life groups present. I watched the heads of at least five pro-life organizations doing outreach together, strategizing together, making plans for future collaboration and then praying together.
I think collaboration is a characteristic that people in the pro-life movement must acknowledge and strive for. It was beautiful to see Stand True working with Created Equal, Dayton Right to Life, Heart for the Next Generation, and other pro-life brethren today at Wright State.
Not only did the leaders work together, all of the amazing people working with these organizations were witnessing together. We also spent time getting to know each other, developing friendships, and praying together.
While all of the different pro-life groups across the world may hold different tactics and methods for ending abortion, we must remember first and foremost that we are all serving the same God in our work to end abortion! It is all the same end goal. Simply being a pro-life activist requires us to put our pride aside in order to save babies and save mothers from the hurt of abortion.
So was this outreach successful? Yes! We planted seeds, allowed God to work through us, stood up against this holocaust, encouraged young people to be vocal about abortion, informed students about Haskell’s correlation with the Wright State Physicians group, and witnessed with some great people who consist of one big, unitive, loving pro-life family. What a hidden blessing.
